Door County, Wisconsin, is a vacation destination for nearly 1.5 million visitors annually, many who visit specifically to indulge in the variety of culinary delights that can be found in area boutiques, wineries and restaurants. While some visitors stock up on the tasty treats before they leave, area restaurateur Kim Jensen has regularly received requests throughout the year from customers wanting more.
Realizing the bottleneck in trying to market those delicious dishes during the off season, Jensen decided to take action. The artisan chef started sample production of her own marinara sauce in a nearby incubator kitchen and cannery and worked with other area restaurant owners with the same desire to offer their food products year-round.
“Door County Pantry was born from the idea that our delicious offerings should be available to everyone, no matter where they live or the time of year,” she says. “This online marketplace allows us to offer delicious, artisan recipes in small batch quantities directly to our customers, corporate gift givers, high end boutiques and grocers both quickly and easily.”
